Incredible results this week at the Green is Life tradeshow in Poland. Miscanthus sinensis ‘Lady in Red’PBR, bred by Krzysztof Slowinski, received the three most important awards: Gold, the Journalists’ Award and the Audience Award. This is the first time one variety received this set of awards.

Cornus kousa Flower Tower ('ZuilB1'PBR) was awarded with Gold as well. he growth of Flower Tower is upright and columnar and the flowering in May-June is very exuberant. The green leaves turn to scarlet red in autumn. Cornus Flower Tower grows about 4m tall and 1m wide which makes it a perfect tree for the smaller (urban) garden.

The new introduction Cornus alba Nightfall ('Verpaalen3'PBR) brought home Silver. Nightfall distinguishes itself with a dark purple leaf colour and an impressive display of colours in the autumn. This dark Cornus has dark green leaves in the spring, which become darker throughout the year. The leaves, especially on the underside, have a grey, velvety haze that contrasts beautifully with the dark plant.
