Before the opening of PLANTARIUM|GROEN-Direkt, the inspection committee awarded no fewer than four medals during the KVBC novelty inspection for novelties under Plantipp management.

Two gold medals and KVBC Best Novelty

Agastache Beelicious Pink ('Agapk'PBR) scored the most points and was not only awarded a Gold KVBC Medal, but also named Best Novelty of the autumn edition of PLANTARIUM|GROEN-Direkt 2024. The prize was awarded to the Polish entrant Vitroflora Grupa Producentow sp. z o.o, breeder Van Hemert & Co and royalty management agency Plantipp. The jury was impressed by the large, pink flower spikes that contrast beautifully with the dark purple calyxes. The beautiful, full plants bloom profusely, according to the KVBC jury. Agastache Beelicious Pink has a compact growth habit of 50 cm wide and 70-80 cm high. The large, pink flowers are a feast for the eyes and attract many butterflies and bees. Beelicious Pink has a long flowering period from July to September, so you can enjoy this abundant Agastache for a long time.

In addition to Beelicious Pink, a Gold medal was awarded to a Plantipp novelty. Hydrangea paniculata Groundbreaker® Blush ('LC NO21'PBR), submitted by Alex Schoemaker Living Creations BV, is praised by the jury for its unique and innovative appearance. This new H. paniculata has a 'low, broad growth with relatively small, very healthy leaves and is richly flowering with white flower panicles, which turn pink when they bloom.'

Silver and bronze medals

Cordyline australis Magic Star ('TUS020'PBR), submitted by Van der Peijl Tuinplanten from Zundert won a silver award. From the jury report: 'Distinctive in the range due to the combination of dark yellow-edged leaves with an intense red base. As a whole, an attractive combination.' Green leaves with creamy white edges slowly transition into pink tones towards the bottom and intense red on the trunk. And the best part is that Cordyline Magic Star retains these unique colours all year round!

Buddleja davidii Butterfly Candy® Little Cerise ('BotEx 007'PBR), submitted by Van Son & Koot b.v., Kaatsheuvel, took home a bronze medal. Buddleja Butterfly Candy® is a very abundantly flowering series. The flower plumes have a light, sweet scent and are very attractive to butterflies and bees. This makes the Butterfly Candy® series great for biodiversity. All varieties are well-branched and, due to their size, are ideal for containers and smaller gardens.
