At Plantarium 2019, which will be held from 21 – 23 August in Boskoop, Plantipp is proud to show the latest introductions. The Plantarium highlights for this year are: Buddleja High Five Purple ('podcept1'PBR) which is a wonderful addition to several reasons. First, it is a dense plant, just covered in plump flower spikes bursting with double, purple flowers. Secondly, the long panicles of flowers appear spring through fall and will also attract butterflies and beneficial insects. Third, it is considered non-invasive as it produces little to no seed and if any seed does appear, it doesn’t sprout. This Buddleja is multi-talented and can be utilized in a variety of ways in the landscape. Just imagine it in a container on the terrace, balcony or patio or planted in the garden as a single plant or in groupings. High Five Purple was found by Peter Podaras from the US. Clematis 'Kokonoe'PBR that is a striking Clematis with a special flower shape in a warm purple colour. 'Kokonoe' gives a lot of flowers on one plant and flowers from late spring to early autumn. This climbing plant becomes about 2.50m high and 1m wide and is beautiful as solitary on terrace or balcony, against a wall, fence or pergola but also in a mixed container or hanging basket. ‘Kokonoe’ was found by the Japanese breeder Shigeaki Ochiai. And Delphinium elatum Cinderella ('DD2011'PBR), an elegant perennial with flowers that are particularly suitable as cut flowers as well as for in a pot on patio or balcony. This Delphinium flowers in summer. The flowers are completely filled and have a soft pink colour with green tips at the edge and in the heart. Cinderella becomes about 1.20 m high and 60 cm wide and was found by Dowdeswell’s Delphiniums from New Zealand. Of course we show a lot more apart from these three highlights.
