As always, we’ve had the pleasure to be introduced to a wide range of new varieties this year, and we were absolutely struck by the immense amount of flower power we’ve laid eyes on. A lot of attention has been paid to new introductions that impress with their unique blooms and extravagant flower power. Some varieties are small, others grow tall - but what they all have in common is that they’re the best new summer flowers of this season. No doubt.

We’ve been proud to introduce a few new powerhouses.

1. Rosa Cutie Pie
Cutie Pie is a thorn-free dwarf variety with a low growth habit, that doesn’t need any pruning and blooms exuberantly. Staying low and compact (growing up to 15 cm high and 20-30 cm wide), Cutie Pie is perfectly suited for pots and containers, balcony’s, terraces and smaller gardens.

The best thing? Even though she’s small in size, she’s a real champ when it comes to producing flowers! Just see the number of flowers on this 2-year-old Cutie Pie

2. Rosa Everglow Ruby
Rosa Everglow Ruby is compact and very well-branched, making it the ideal specimen for pots. It grows on its own roots and is self-cleaning, making for long-lasting enjoyment. But the best thing is yet to come: her flowers change colour over the years. Or as Thijs would say “she ages just as beautifully as women do!”.

3. Buddleja Butterfly Candy series
The new Buddleja davidii Butterfly Candy series has already won multiple awards for its extraordinary blooms. Little Ruby was crowned Best in Show at Europe’s largest trolley fair, GROEN-Direkt. The dense spikes of deeply coloured flowers contrast beautifully with the intense dark foliage. But what makes these award-winning shrubs real showstoppers is their compact growth.

4. Magnolia Pink Pyramid
Magnolia Pink Pyramid stands out with its early age free flowering. The large, dark pink flowers appear in spring, only to re-appear for a second flush in summer. Pink Pyramid has a narrow, upright growth habit - shaped like a pyramid. Making it an extremely suitable tree for the smaller garden or even for pot on balcony or terrace.

5. Camellia 1001 Summer Nights Jasmine
And let’s not forget about the latest addition to the camellia family: Camellia 1001 Summer Nights® Jasmine. Not only is this Camellia suitable for many climates, but its flowering performance is almost unbeatable. She blooms several months throughout different seasons. In fact, in China, she blooms nearly all year round. And with her dense habit, dark glossy leaves and large flowers, she’s a sight for sore eyes in any garden or landscape. Read a bit about her history right here

We can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has to offer!
