Heesters

Description

They’re quick-growing deciduous shrubs with attractive flowers that are incredibly easy to grow: which is exactly what makes Spiraea japonica (also known as bridal wreath) such a popular and excellent shrub for borders. Spiraea tends to flower profusely with their pollinator-friendly blooms, adding a delight of colour to any landscape.

Herman Geers in the Netherlands is best known for selecting the most innovative Spiraea varieties based on compactness, eye-catching foliage colour, strength, flower power and intense, long-lasting flower colours. As if that’s not enough, his varieties are highly resistant to powdery mildew as well.

The pollinator-friendly Spiraea japonica ‘Odessa’ has been selected for all the above and more. ‘Odessa’ is the perfect Spiraea for both gardens and containers, with a naturally compact and very neat shape. Needless to say that she hardly requires any looking-after. With dark green leaves and strong candy-pink button-shaped flowers, ‘Odessa’ is sure to impress. She flowers from June to August and is known for retaining the deep pink colours of the flowers incredibly well. And the best thing is yet to come: ‘Odessa’ stands out with her incredibly attractive yellow-green seed heads, providing an extended period of decorative value.
