Description
Cotinus' Purple Lady' is a significant improvement to the Cotinus range, combining striking beauty with exceptional performance. Unlike traditional varieties that take years to flower, ‘Purple Lady’ produces its signature blooms on just one-year-old branches. Even a young plant puts on a spectacular show, with large, airy, pinkish-purple plumes that cover the shrub from June to September, creating the famous smoke-like effect.
With dark green leaves that have a purple hue, intensifying with increased sunlight, the shrub stands out in the landscape throughout the season. With her very well-branched habit, ‘Purple Lady’ is easy to prune and maintain, allowing it to be shaped and kept at the desired size with little effort. The ideal garden shrub, and great in planters, for mass planting or urban planting.
How to care for Cotinus ‘Purple Lady’:
Cotinus ‘Purple Lady’ can grow up to 1.5 to 2 metres high and wide after five years. Plant in fertile, well-drained soil. Prune late winter / early spring to keep the desired size. ‘Purple Lady’ is hardy to -23 °C.
