Plantipp B.V. signed an agreement with the breeding division of Palm Landscape Architecture Co. Ltd. from China to manage a selection of Palm’s extensive Camellia assortment.
The agreement between both parties outlines the Camellia varieties that Plantipp is allowed to test and license out on a worldwide scale. The licensing will be done in close cooperation with Plantipp’s industry counterpart Mark Lunghusen of Australian Horticultural Services and PBR attorney in China, Dr. Shujun Yu.
The official signature ceremony was held at the Chinese Plant Breeder Rights Conference in Guangzhou, a yearly September conference initiated by the Plant Variety Protection (PVP) Office of the State Forestry Administration of China (SFA). In the presence of Chinese press and invited guests Kim van Rijssen, representing Plantipp, signed the agreement. On behalf of Palm it was Dr. Liu Xinkai and Dr. Zhao Qiangming who co-signed.
Kim van Rijssen, Regional Manager Asia-Pacific of Plantipp, said:
“We are thrilled and honoured to be working with the iconic breeder Dr. Gao Jiyin and his research team at Palm. A milestone for Plantipp with respect to business development in Asia.”
Dr. Lui Xinkai, breeder at Palm, added:
“We are very happy to work together with Plantipp. Through our cooperation the new Camellia varieties of Palm will be able to enter the international market. And eventually in many gardens and homes around the world.“
