13-16 June announces the 2023 FlowerTrials, during which professionals in the horticultural industry will travel through the Netherlands and Germany to discover unique innovations within the green sector. More than 60 growers will exhibit their latest innovations, and Plantipp will present their novelties at F.N. Kempen this year. This year, visitors will be surprised by more than ten innovative novelties and the RHS Plant of the Year winners of 2022 and 2023.
Agapanthus from De Wet Plant Breeders in South Africa
Visitors to the Plantipp stand can expect a spectacular display where the Agapanthus from De Wet Plant Breeders can be seen. Not only can Plant of the Year 2023 Agapanthus BlackJack ('DWAghyb02'PBR) be admired, but also the new Agapanthus Everpanthus® Midnight Sky ('DWAgHyb01'PBR) and other members of the Everpanthus® series will amaze the visitors with their flower power.
These spectacular Agapanthus are part of a long breeding program of De Wet Plant Breeders and are known for their repeat flowering and extravagant and extra-long flowering period.
Vigorous flowering and drought resistance
In addition to the spectacular De Wet Agapanthus, there will be more impressive novelties on display. The new Lavandula stoechas ‘Bella Toscane’ stands out with its compact growth and extreme flowering. Whereas Lavandula intermedia Sensational! ('Tesseract'PBR) draws the attention with sensationally large intense purple flowers and exuberant flowering.
Speaking of large flowers: the Delosperma Ocean Sunset series has the largest flowers in Delosperma, and the masses of large, sunflower-like flowers of Gazania Suncarpet ('DwGzHy01'PBR) bring, combined with the climate resilience, resistance and vigorous growth, the assortment to a higher level.
Climate-resistant novelties for a hotter climate
The Chick Charms® GIANTS will undoubtedly let jaws drop with their revolutionary sizes, but also with their resistance to drought and extreme heat, making them ready for an increasingly hotter climate. In addition, Perovskia atriplicifolia Prime Time ('18-3-6') is new in 2023: an early flowering Perovskia with large, dense lavender-purple flower spikes and grey-green, fragrant leaves. Prime Time blooms earlier in the season than other Perovskia, and the flower spikes retain their colour well into autumn. Prime Time has an impressive growth rate, is drought resistant and brings colour to the landscape from July to October.
Additions to popular series
In addition to striking flowering performance and climate resistance, some popular and well-known series have also been expanded. New additions to the Sempervivum Chick Charms®, such as 'Lotus Blossom' will impress with their unique shapes and climate resistance. The same applies to the new introductions within the Mad about Mangave series: Mangave Mad about Mangave® 'Praying Hands' and ‘Blazing Saddles’. Novelties with unique colours and shapes that are also low in maintenance.
The Phlox paniculata Bambini® series is perhaps one of the most popular Phlox series on the market. With their compact growth of 25 cm high and wide and brightly coloured flowers, they are suitable for any type of landscape. In addition, the Sedum Sunsparkler® series expanded with the arrival of 'Cosmic Comet'. Other favourites like the revolutionary x Semponium series, or the 6 months flowering Tradescantia andersoniana 'JS® Brainstorm' PBR and the impressive Coreopsis grandiflora Solar series will be featured again as well this year.
