Cornus ‘Soleil Rouge’ is a sight to behold. The beautiful, large flowers are up to 12 cm (!) across, starting with salmon-pink flower bracts that turn bright pink to red throughout the seasons. This colour change is truly beautiful and becomes even more spectacular when contrasted with the healthy green foliage, which boasts vibrant red and purple autumn colours.
Cornus ‘Soleil Rouge’ bears large (not edible) fruits from late summer to autumn, adding to the spectacular colours of this large shrub or, if desired, small tree. ‘Soleil Rouge’ requires very little maintenance, making it ideal for city plantings, larger and smaller gardens, and landscaping.
How to care for Cornus ‘Soleil Rouge’:
Cornus ‘Soleil Rouge’ grows to 4 to 6m high and 2.5 to 3m wide and prefers a spot in (partial) sun in average, well-drained soil. It is hardy to -20 ºC.
