As the days begin to shorten, the garden can still be full of colour and interest. September is the perfect month to celebrate plants that reach their peak late in the season, bringing fresh flowers, attractive foliage and valuable nectar when many other plants have finished. By combining late-flowering perennials with evergreen structure, borders remain vibrant well into autumn.
Stars of the late-season border
