At the upcoming GrootGroenPlus (GGP) fair in October 2025, several striking new Plantipp-represented introductions will take part in the official judging. These varieties stand out for their innovative breeding, distinctive ornamental value, and strong performance.  These are plants bred to perform: reliable, resilient, and ready for modern landscapes.

Cornus kousa Flower Tower

Cornus kousa Flower Tower (‘ZuilB1’PBR) - submitted by Asra, is an upright, columnar Cornus that makes the most of tight spaces. Reaching about 4 m tall and only 1 m wide, it fits neatly into smaller gardens or urban planting schemes. In late spring it produces masses of showy flowers, followed by a striking scarlet-red autumn colour. Hardy to –18 °C and low-maintenance, it needs little more than good soil and sun or partial shade. This variety has already been recognised with awards at Green is Life 2024 and IPM 2025.

Symphoricarpos Symphony Collection

The new Symphony series – submitted by Heinje, offers three compact, vibrant selections:

  • Symphony Rumble (‘GR16PU’PBR) – with rich purple tones.
  • Symphony Rave (‘GR16RO’PBR) – glowing in bright pink-red.
  • Symphony Rock (‘GR16LW’PBR) – with fresh, light-white berries.

Growing to 70–90 cm, these shrubs are tough, healthy, and easy to grow. They flower generously and carry their colourful berries well into winter. With mildew and rust resistance and good shelf life, they are a practical choice for both growers and gardeners.

Osmanthus Perfume Party

Osmanthus heterophyllus Perfume Party (‘PNOS01’PBR) – submitted by Van Roessel, BvE and Jens Meyer, combines glossy evergreen foliage with fragrant flowers, making it a plant that works hard year-round. With a compact habit, it adds both structure and scent to borders, patios, and containers, offering interest in every season.

Miscanthus ‘Lady in Red’

Miscanthus sinensis ‘Lady in Red’ PBR – submitted by Hoogenraad, is an ornamental grass with strong visual impact. Its foliage carries rich red tones, which continue into the flowers for a dramatic effect. It has already received multiple awards, including Gold at Green is Life, for its striking looks and garden performance.

Phillyrea Grand Prix

Phillyrea angustifolia Grand Prix ('HUGP16'PBR) – submitted by Huijbregts, is a robust evergreen with a very dense, well-branched habit. Adaptable and low-maintenance, it is a versatile option for planting schemes that call for year-round structure and reliability.

These introductions reflect the careful work of breeders and growers across the world. At GrootGroenPlus 2025, they will be judged not just for looks, but for the qualities that matter most: resilience, adaptability, and lasting garden value.
