Ilex Viking is a strong and healthy plant. The foliage doesn’t show leaf spots and the plant is very well-branched from top to bottom. Viking is heat and cold resistant and can resist sea winds. Besides very strong, Viking is also gentle: it has no painful, prickly leaves and is therefore softer to the touch. The glossy green foliage turns burgundy in autumn/ winter. Viking has dark stems and is a male plant so doesn’t carry berries. This evergreen survivor grows up to about 1m high and wide. You can plant Viking in full sun to shady places in a fertile, well-drained soil. It is an excellent shrub for landscaping, hedges, balcony or terrace and even for topiary! Hardy to -25 ºC.
